Saving Hawksbill Sea Turtles

The sight of lightening over the ocean took 4 seconds before the sound of thunder reached the beach in Celestun. Heavy rain poured in on this small fishing village, in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Celestun is home to a variety of animals, including endangered sea turtles, flamingos, and many migratory birds.

After the 4 day Fly for Conservation workshop in Merida, Mexico the Kashmir World Foundation and Pronatura teams traveled to Celestun for drone test flights and training on the beach.

KwF team was just in time to witness the emergency of a hawksbill sea turtle nest. As the sun was setting the team released 12 little hatchlings int ok the Gulf of Mexico!
