About the Role
Join the Kashmir World Foundation (KwF) Aerospace Team and help advance our mission to protect Himalayan snow leopards through cutting-edge technology and conservation innovation. As an intern, you’ll contribute to fully autonomous aircraft—systems capable of independent takeoff, mission execution, and return. You’ll work directly on real flight systems, including airframe design (Fusion 360, OpenVSP), system modeling (GNU Octave), flight simulation (JSBSim), autonomy development (ArduPilot, DroneKit-Python, MAVProxy), and embedded systems integration.
You’ll also help develop advanced capabilities like multimodal sensor fusion, including real-time object detection with YOLO, enabling intelligent monitoring and protection of wildlife in remote Himalayan habitats.
Who We’re Looking For:
Pursuing a degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field
Excited to work on real autonomous aircraft for conservation missions
Comfortable with or eager to learn Fusion 360, OpenVSP, GNU Octave, ArduPilot, DroneKit-Python, MAVProxy, JSBSim, Python, C/C++, and embedded systems
Interested in real-time systems, sensor fusion, and autonomy
Strong communicators and collaborative teammates ready for a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment
This internship is hands-on, collaborative, and ideal for students passionate about aerospace, technology, and protecting endangered wildlife.
Key CS-related components include:
Autonomy development: DroneKit-Python, ArduPilot scripting, MAVProxy integration
Flight simulation and modeling: JSBSim, GNU Octave
Embedded systems: Firmware development, real-time processing, sensor integration
Sensor fusion and AI: Real-time object detection using YOLO, multimodal data processing
