Panel Discussion: Listening to the Rainforest – The DeepData Expedition in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula
Join us for a special live panel discussion featuring members of the Rainforest DeepData Expedition — a groundbreaking mission that united conservationists, researchers, and technology innovators in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula to study one of the world’s most biodiverse rainforests.
At the heart of this mission lies Bioacoustics — the study of the sounds produced by animals. By recording and analyzing bird songs, mammal calls, and other natural soundscapes, the team sought to uncover new ways to monitor ecosystem health and detect threats such as poaching and deforestation.
During this event, expedition members will share their firsthand experiences in the field and discuss how they integrated AI, camera traps, and acoustic sensors to track species, monitor biodiversity, and identify environmental changes in real time.
